How to Style Our Hair
Styling your hair can surely add variety and panache to your everyday look. It can be fun and easy as long as you are equipped with the right know-how. Here is one great yet simple technique to add to the list of your favorite African American hairstyles. It’s called the Roller Wrap.
After you have shampooed relaxed hair, apply a generous amount of Redken Smooth Down butter treatment generously to wet hair. Comb it down evenly to the entire hair area using a wide toothed comb. This conditioner is great as it may be rinsed off or left on according to your hair’s needs. After conditioning, you will feel a dramatic change in your hair’s texture. This treatment makes the hair softer and tangle free almost immediately.
Prepare a set of medium to large sized rollers. Before you start rolling, apply a light cream setting lotion to speed up the setting process as it adds extra protection to your hair. Divide your hair into partitions that will fit into the rollers you have on hand. Set your hair with the rollers as desired.
Leave the rollers on for 30 to 45 minutes then take them off. Run your wide-tooth comb gently down your hair to get it relaxed from the setting process. After which, with a round bristle brush, wrap your hair around your head with a circular motion starting from the top down. Secure the tip of the hair twist with a clamp or a clip. Wrap the twist with a hair net and blow dry on a low setting for ten to fifteen minutes. After your hair is amply dried, take off the net; take of the clamp, and… Ta Da! You now have a professionally-styled looking, flowing, beautiful, lustrous hair. You will surely be the envy of every woman on your block.
Remember that African American hair is very fragile and delicate. When styling, it is vital to use healthy hair care products to protect and moisturize it. A major problem that African American women experience is that the hair frizzes with a single drop of moisture. You might want to cheek out Redken hairstyling products that can help you with this problem. Moreover, most women forget that water is very important in keeping the hair moisturized and healthy. Drink at least 8-10 full glasses of water a day. Nothing dries hair up faster than dehydration.
