Half Wigs for Protective Styling

Half Wigs for Protective Styling

January 14, 2012 · 1 Comment

Looking for a fresh and different look and keep your hair protected at the same time? Try a half wig! I discovered half wigs during my transitioning period, after searching for some quick ways to hide and protect my strands and look professional and polished. I actually went to my local BSS in search of something that I could attach to my ponytail such as a bun, and the half wigs caught my eye. They looked very natural and jazzy. The thing I like most about half wigs is that they are not something that you have to commit to for any longer than a day if you don’t want to. But if you find that... [Read the full story]

To Chop or Not to Chop?

June 27, 2011 · Leave a Comment

To Chop or Not to Chop One of the most emotional journeys a black woman can go through is a natural hair journey. As black women there are so many factors we must consider before letting go of the creamy crack! The fear of being the odd one out and not knowing how peers will react is a constant delay. A lot of permed women have not even seen their natural hair since childhood and have no idea how to care for it. But out of all these worries, the most common fear black woman face before doing their Big Chop or “BC” is the fear that their hair will not grow back. This fear has evolved from the... [Read the full story]

How to Avoid the Dizzy Effects from Too Many Hair Galleries to View Are you in search of a new look? Granted, hair galleries, especially the online hair galleries, hold a lot of promise and appeal for their wide varieties of style available in the comfort of your own home. Unfortunately, it’s easy to get cross-eyed going over the hundreds of unrelated photos, so you need to create a system of homing in on the right sites, instead ending up using a random “eenie-meenie-miny-moe” method. From the point of view of hairstyles, eenie meenie is never a good idea. First, have some idea what you... [Read the full story]

Back to the BASICS – Natural Hair Regimen

October 1, 2011 · 2 Comments

So I have been natural since the summer/fall of 2009 and over the time that has elapsed, I have tried many different methods, products, regimens, etc.  A couple of times throughout my journey, I got off track.  My hair was not as much of a priority as life’s daily activities were.  I was neglecting my hair a bit, but upon reflection I have come to realize that my most basic and repetitive routines/regimens are the most beneficial to my hair.  Hence, it is time to get Back to the Basics!  Through it all I have found that having a basic routine overall is better for my hair than anything... [Read the full story]

Sedu Clipless Curling/Solia Flat Iron

June 24, 2011 · 1 Comment

Here is my review of the Sedu Clipless Curling iron and the Solia Flat Iron I ordered from Folica.com. They were doing a special where you get a free flat iron if you spent 100 dollars. I brought the Sedu Clipless Curling Iron bundle and it came out to 98 bucks so random thing for a dollar. I am so pleased with my purchase. I give both these products 10/10. The only thing I don’t like is the glove, somehow I still manage to burn my hand because its a kind of mesh type material. In the video, you will see where I curled and flat ironed my lace wig and the end results!!! Stay tuned... [Read the full story]

Five Tips to Remember When Visiting the Salon

Five Tips to Remember When Visiting the Salon

September 4, 2010 · 2 Comments

The last thing you’d want for your hair is a disaster—especially if you’re shelling out your hard earned cash. While most women see a visit to the salon as a treat, some have had experiences that taught them to arrive a little more cautious and prepared. Just keep in mind these five simple guidelines on your next visit (especially if it will be your first visit to a particular salon): 1. Get References When Possible A friend or family member who has had a positive experience (or more) is a great resource to help determine if a certain salon is the right one for you. Ask them if they have... [Read the full story]
