How to Deep Condition Natural Hair

When it comes to deep conditioning my natural hair, I have tried plenty of different methods and options. Deep conditioning methods vary across the board for many of us. I have experienced successes with a variety of methods, however I do have my favorite procedures.
Heat with Deep Conditioning
I have used heat with the application of my deep conditioner and it is by far the best form of deep conditioning for my hair. The heat helps the conditioner to do it’s work in a limited amount of time. Sometimes I just sit under the dryer for about 10-15 minutes with the conditioner on my hair; once it’s rinsed out, my hair feels great.
No Heat DC
Without heat, my deep conditioning process is greatly extended. I have to leave conditioner on for a much longer duration when no heat is involved. Unlike sitting under a hooded dryer (which helps the conditioner to penetrate my strands), sitting with conditioner on the hair doesn’t seem to be quite as effective, but it gets the job done when I don’t feel like pulling out the dryer.
To sum it up, for me personally, I prefer deep conditioning with heat for the best results. I experience softer hair with more moisture retention when heat is applied with the deep conditioning session. However, when I am lazy, in a crunch, or on the go without time to sit under a hooded dryer, I throw on a cap and go without the heat. The no heat process still does the trick, but I do not recommend it for the times when a serious treatment is needed. Try your luck with both options and see which process turns out to be your favorite!
