How to Avoid the Dizzy Effects from Too Many Hair Galleries to View

Are you in search of a new look? Granted, hair galleries, especially the online hair galleries, hold a lot of promise and appeal for their wide varieties of style available in the comfort of your own home. Unfortunately, it’s easy to get cross-eyed going over the hundreds of unrelated photos, so you need to create a system of homing in on the right sites, instead ending up using a random “eenie-meenie-miny-moe” method. From the point of view of hairstyles, eenie meenie is never a good idea.

First, have some idea what you want – shorter or just a trim; layers or curls? There must be someone whose hairstyle you adore. Talk to that person and ask what the pitfalls of that particular hair style are. It’ll help you decide. As you discuss the merits of that style, you could take notice of their hair color, hair texture and skin tone, as well as the length and shape of their face. If there are any similarities to your own and it looks do-able, then you should go online and try looking for that particular style in hair galleries.

Next, print the photos you are attracted to. Lay them out in a line. You’ll notice a trend in the hairstyles you have selected from the hair galleries, and here’s one of your most important clues. And what you should be aware of is that many salons make you feel that way on purpose. It helps turn you into a big spender. It’s very easy to get carried away inside a salon; if you’re on a budget, get a price or find another place.

Fourth, show your stylist the print-outs and discuss how to get the look you want. Don’t feel rushed (again, another salon trick to get you done and out so that the seat becomes available.) On the other hand, don’t abuse your time with the stylist either. There are probably others waiting for attention.

Finally, sit back and relax. It’s pampering time and there will be opportunities to either rue your choice or delight on how it all worked out. Hair will grow back and then you’ll face another round with the online hair galleries but this time, you’ll have a better idea of the lay of the land, so to speak.

Don’t forget the accessories. You can start with a simple do and add some chopsticks or a flower and it’s on another level instantly. Flowers are always fancy, summery and fun! Pin up your curls with a rhinestone or wide barrette to create instant pizazz. Colorful headbands can add that summer flare to an otherwise simple ponytail or bun.

Braids are always a fresh and welcomed summer style for women of color, and not to mention the convenience of having them. Updo braided styles are very hot this season, and cute accessories can only add more flavor.

This is the latest form of my hair, a stretched bantu knot out. I achieved this look to my dismay through a blow dry (I had to otherwise it would not have been dry overnight for work). I think it’s the closest I will get to a “wrap” in a while, as I do not plan on straightening it for a minute. My afro texture was not as prominent thoiugh due to the dryer, it felt awkward actually

Bantu Knot Outs…

I’ll be wearing my signature style – the bantu knot out this year. Of course with time comes more volume and density, both of which I’ll enjoy! Stay tuned for more of my signature style – you can rarely go wrong with the bko!

Twist Outs…

Twist outs will continue to be a style that I go to as well…when I’m short on time, or just want to have poofy waves and curls, I’ll do a twist out. I don’t do twist outs that often, however, when I want to switch it up, I enjoy the style that’s done with ease.

Protective Styles….

Protective styles are a challenge for me. I can be very expressive, and my hair is an extension of that – I love big, voluminous hair. I will definitely try to make protective styling more of a staple for myself…at least during the cold weather months.

No/Minimal Heat

This should be easy, seeing as though I have not straightened my hair in about a year and a half now I’m not pressed to straighten my hair to be honest…I like the mystery of wondering how long it really is. I also love that my hair makes me unique…when I straighten it, I’ll blend in again.
