Alberto VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream Conditioner Review
Last week I wrote an article about co-washing natural hair, well this week, I tried a new product for co-washing, Alberto VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream Conditioner. No, I wasn’t trying to step out on my Aussie Moist, I just didn’t have any readily available at the moment; I spontaneously wanted to co-wash. I was perusing the Kroger aisle and saw VO5 on sale for $1, that’s right folks, only 1 bill!!! This is one of the true “cheapie” conditioners. After hearing for the longest that cheap conditioners are the best to co-wash with, I really didn’t hesitate to snatch it off of the shelf. I was so anxious to try it that I hopped in the shower right after returning from my late night run to the market. I must say that I was pretty impressed with the results. Please note: I added no extra oils or anything that I usually do to “wake up” my conditioners (view how to enhance conditioners here).
What It Does:
- Detangles Instantly
- Softens Hair
- Does Not Strip Hair
- Does Not Leave a Waxy Coating
- Leaves a Nice Scent
- Contains no Cones
- Cheap, Simple, Actually Exceeded Expectations
What it Doesn’t Do:
- Not Efficient for Deep Conditioning
- A Little Doesn’t Go A Long Way: Must Use Plenty
For the V05 to be so inexpensive, the ingredients aren’t all that bad, to my surprise.
Here’s what’s in it: Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride, Glycine Soja (Soy Bean) Seed Extract, Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry) Leaf Extract, Steareth-21, Glyceryl Stearate, Octoxynol-9, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Thiamin HCL (Vitamin B1), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5), Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance, Red 33.
Overall (for Co-Washing Only) I give Alberto VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberries and Cream Moisturizing Conditioner a Rating of 4 out of 5!
If you are looking forward to co-washing and you want to do so on a budget, try it, it’s definitely worth it in my book! Until next time, Happy Healthy Hair Growing!!!

i’ve used V05 since the 80′s off and on. It is a bit watery for my tastes, but the scents are fab. i can’t cowash cuz’ it leaves me with too much buildup and i must use shampoo to feel clean, but i’m so glad that many of u ladies can. i think the summertime would be a wonderful time to play around with the fruity scents of V05. enjoy!!!
